  15. <p>     DIED. ROSE TOTINO, 79, creator of an eponymous line of frozen
  16. pizzas; in Rochester, Minnesota. Totino saw the potential in
  17. a new cuisine craze and in 1951 she and her husband opened one
  18. of the first pizza restaurants in the Midwest. They got a $1,500
  19. loan by using the family car as collateral and baking the loan
  20. officer his first pizza. By 1975, she was chairman of Totino's
  21. Finer Foods, Inc., the top frozen-pizza maker in the '70s. The
  22. same year, she sold her concern to Pillsbury for $22 million
  23. and became that company's first woman vice president. Her achievements
  24. earned induction into the Frozen Food Hall of Fame and the ultimate
  25. validation of celebrity, an Annie Leibowitz photo-portrait.
  26. Totino contributed generously to schools and the arts.
